About Us

Davies Dyslexia Discovery was founded by Emily Davies, whose own journey with dyslexia began later than most. Emily was not diagnosed until she was 18, with her strong reading skills believed to have masked many of the typical signs. Yes, not all dyslexic individuals dislike reading! It wasn’t until her GCSE years that she realised how much longer tasks were taking her compared to her peers.

Despite these challenges, Emily persisted. She went on to complete a BSc in Psychology and later an MSc, achieving a first-class degree and a distinction. This success was made possible through appropriate support and a clear understanding of her learning profile. In her case, a diagnosis provided the clarity she needed to thrive.

Her experience sparked a deep passion for improving educational access for anyone who struggles. Emily has worked across specialist provisions, primary and secondary schools, and most extensively in further and higher education. For the past three years, she has supported learners with additional needs, most commonly dyslexia, to achieve their goals in these later stages of education.

In 2024, Emily undertook further specialist training in dyslexia, driven by a desire to offer more advanced tutoring and formal assessments. Her current qualifications now allow her to provide this service to those seeking clarity and support.

Davies Dyslexia Discovery is the result of Emily’s commitment to supporting others in the same way she was supported, with empathy and a belief in every learner’s potential.
